16 team H2h weekly points league.

I drafted Ruiz with my last pick (#380) and have been happy with the production thus far.. He doesn't do anything well, but he also isn't a K-fest that will drop a minus 5 on me in any given week. He was the #6 catcher in this format last season, so I think he represents a decent option for me behind the dish.

However, Nick Hundley just got dropped. He k's a lot more, doesn't hit for near the average of Chooch, but does offer a bit of pop, hits much higher in the lineup (on a much worse team), and plays A LOT of games for a Catcher... (85 plate appearances to 67 for Ruiz thus far)

So which of these jabroni's would you rather have behind the dish? The guy that hit .300 last year, will draw a ton of walks (+1 pt) and get 320 ab's or the guy that will hit .250, high teen homers, 70 rbi and is on pace for 500+ ab's? I'm leaning towards dumping Ruiz for Hundley.

Ruiz.

When it comes to non-elite catchers (and, frankly, i have trouble calling any catcher "elite"), I want the guy who will usually help a little and almost never hurt me instead of the guy who's going to give me either 20 or -10 in any given week.

In roto or category H2H leagues, hundley's worth a pickup if you need a catcher, but I don't want him in points leagues.
I'd much rather stick with 1-2 points per game from Ruiz.

I had hundley for a while but it appears that he stopped being good immediately after I picked him up. Dropped him today in favor of NOBODY. Since I can, I'm gonna run without a catcher and just stream a pitcher in that spot. It may be dirty in your league, but its within the rules of mine.

Well Ruiz left the game after one AB today (rough week for me.. wow). If he is going to miss any time, I have no choice but to make the Hundley swap.

I'd go Ruiz, but it's closer for me than most others I'd think

Hundley was neeeever gonna keep up the tear he was on, but I think he could very well be a solid fantasy catcher this yr (certainly a solid C2 in any 10-12 team league that starts 2 catchers). He batted cleanup on Tues night btw...

I'm not carrying two catchers, so I'll let the injury dictate this move.

who else is on the WW worth a piss?

IMO, I'd also go with Ruiz. He's got a better chance for success than Hundley

Nobody that you'd admit to having on your roster. 16 teams, and probably a third carry two catchers for some ridiculous reason.

Alright, Ruiz's lingering injury and Hundley's streakiness have let me to flip Jordan Walden to the Montero owner for AJ Pierzynski. I don't know why, but this makes 6 years in a row for me to wind up with AJ on my team.

Just in time too, hundley out with oblique strain....

Hundley's strain is mild (happened in his sleep?), and he should be back when he's eligible to come off the DL
