When a guy accounts for 50% or more of your offense you have to pay the man. I could see this getting ugly, he hinted at the Pro Bowl that he might sit out if he's franchised.

I'll take the bet that he doesn't. You don't get paid OR get credit for the year if you don't show up, you just get a year older. It's a hollow, toothless threat.

I fully understand how it works, but it doesnt mean he will not sit out of OTA's and training camp just to make a point (it seems like the thing to do now days when you are upset w/ your deal)

Forte has no leverage at all. He either plays for $7 and a half mil, or he sits. And the same thing happens next year.

He'll play. I still think the Bears might sweeten last year's offer of $14 mil guaranteed, but not by much. There's simply no reason they need to.

As a fan, I'd like to see the guy get what he deserves. Not sure what that is though. He already has a pretty decent offer.

And then get fined for missing TC, if that's still allowed under the CBA.

He has no point to make, except that he's not happy. Management doesn't have to care.

I do think he deserves a long-term deal, but my opinion isn't very valuable inside the Bears' GM's office.

Source? I'm sure it's simply a matter of time, but I haven't seen anything confirming that as of yet.

Some guy I know down the street who has been to Boston before told me about it.

Or I just misread a news article that actually says Welker likely to get tagged. My bad.

Lynch won't be tagged. Signed multi-year deal. I'd have preferred the tag.
