Bears agreed to terms with RB Michael Bush on a four-year, $14 million contract.
The signing should expedite Marion Barber's release, a move that would free up $1.7 million in salary cap space. Bush's addition also gives the Bears significantly more leverage in contract talks with unsigned franchise player Matt Forte. Even if Forte threatens a holdout, the Bears will be sitting comfortably with a starting-caliber back under contract, and Kahlil Bell at No. 2 on the depth chart. Bush isn't a dynamic runner, but he doesn't got quick feet for his size and is a bull to bring down. He's also an adept receiver and pass blocker. Bush's addition may cut into Forte's 2012 fantasy value. He'll definitely be a candidate for short-yardage and goal-line work.

Good pickup. I've always been a fan of Michael Bush's game.

I'd think the operative word is not "may" but rather "will".

Great signing by 'da Bears.

Great signing for you guys.

Way to go TT- just sit back and watch the division rivals get better while the Packers simply get older.

And barring a shocking Forte-related development, Bush's value settles into the same spot it's been for years, dealing a solid kick in the groin to his owners in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Awesome move for real life.

Crappy move for fantasy.

Great job Bears. I've always been a Michael Bush fan from his days in Louisville. It's going to be interesting to see Forte's reaction now that the Bears just bought themselves another big bargaining chip.

Great signing by the Bears, and at a great cost. If Forte does decide to move on next year they will already have a starting caliber back in Bush (with not a whole lot of mileage on him)

Man I really thought Bush would have gotten more attention from other suitors and more money too.

Just guessing, but i bet the bears go ahead and pay barber his $100,000 roster bonus and hold on to him until it becomes clearer what forte is going to do.

This strikes me like the Tolbert signing. Great move for the Bears ... bad move for Bush. Perhaps his market was just that soft.
