Forte passed on a big long-term contract last year. If he holds out this year he'll never recoup the money he could have gotten. He's getting really bad advice from his agent.

He'll get almost 8 million dollars for being franchised. That's double the going rate for RBs right now...Running backs are going to have to learn their dollar value has dropped (unless they are top tier RB).

Yep. If he plays under the tag he'll get 7.7 mil this year and even more next year. About 17 mil in two years. That's not a bad payday.

I do think the Bears have mishandled the backup RB position, dropping 20+ mil in backups the last three years, but that's a part of the reason Jerry Angelo is gone.

Honestly, too, I'm a bit tired of Matt Forte's attitude. He keeps pulling these lines about being a good guy and all that crap. Look Matt, you've been good on the field, but you've been endlessly complaining about your contract situation for two years off of it. Good guy? Look at what Ray Rice is doing in Baltimore. You haven't heard a word from him. That's being a good guy.

You're being a whiny child who overestimates the value of his position.

Running backs have almost no value in today's NFL. There's no need to pay a premium for the position if you're a GM. If some team offered a 2nd round pick for Forte I'd hope the Bears take it in a heartbeat
