Initial thoughts looking at the matchups..

Rags/Sens- Rags in 6
Bs/Caps- Bs in 7
Panthers/Devils- Devils in 5
Pens/Flyers- Pens in 6

Nucks/Kings- Nucks in 7 (bad matchup for VAN imo, Quick could win that series by himself)
Blues/Sharks- Sharks in 7
Yotes/Hawks- Hawks in 6
Preds/Wings- Preds in 7

All the matchups seem pretty good, I'm hoping Pittsburgh can correct their D enough to hold off the Flyers. Should be a good series, but a BIG letdown if the Pens lose. With the team they have, they can't go out early 3 years in a row.

Caps will give the Bruins a run for their money, but I'll take the team that's won the cup as opposed to the one who's nucleus has never made the conf. finals.

Kings were the worst possible matchup for Van.. Not sure what to expect from the Blues.. Preds and Wings should be a very good series as well.

Best time of the year. :party-smiley-050:

I'll leave my notes inline below with your predictions.....

Rags/Sens- Rags in 6 - Totally agree with rags. May be 5 or even 4 though. Sens are outclassed here.
Bs/Caps- Bs in 7 - 7? I think the Bs turn it on and take them in 5.
Panthers/Devils- Devils in 5 - Sounds about right. Although, I would not be surprosed to see the Panters in 5 either!
Pens/Flyers- Pens in 6 - This is the first round match I think we all want to see. Sid needs to keep his head on a swivel here. I think the pens take it (unless there is drastic injuries or suspensions). Either way...I hope both teams beat the snot out of each other.

Nucks/Kings- Nucks in 7 (bad matchup for VAN imo, Quick could win that series by himself) - would LOVE to see the kings take this. Nucks are too good though.
Blues/Sharks- Sharks in 7 - Sharks choke again?
Yotes/Hawks- Hawks in 6 - Hawks easily in 6.
Preds/Wings- Preds in 7 - I think the wings in 6.

Best time of the year. :party-smiley-050:

I'll go with VAN vs winner of the PHI/PIT series for the finals.. Pens is my early guess....

At least it looks like hockey playoffs will be on channels i can watch this year for a change.

Thinking a little bit more about these series..

Rags should win, but Sens can outscore them. That will be the Rangers downfall in the playoffs, lack of depth scoring.

I feel like the Caps could take this the distance, but they've just been such underachievers in recent playoff history that I don't see anyway the Bs lose this one.

Devils series is hard to get a read on. My eyes say Devils in 5, but think the Panthers will make it a very tough series for NJ and having home ice could be big for them.

Pens should outlast Philly. If the Pens stay out of the box (don't get into the $hit after the play) and can convert on the PP when the Flyers take penalties (big thing being overlooked here is the Flyers have the most minor penalties in the NHL), this one could be over real quick, imo.

Kings blew it by not holding onto the division. Quick is going to keep LA in every game, but I'm not sure they'll be able to score enough to beat the Nucks 4/7.

Blues inexperience worries me. Sharks have been here before (albeit never past the conf finals). Are the Blues going to be able to score enough to stay in the series? I know they're rock solid defensively, but can they win a 4-3 game in the playoffs?

Hawks should beat Phoenix, could end quickly if Toews is back and healthy.

Preds made the big (in relation to everyone else in the league) moves at the deadline, would be a real disappointment to exit in the first round. Home ice is key here, cause I think this one would've gone the distance regardless.

Ok, looking in my crystal ball, this is what I see...

Rangers in 5
Boston in 7
Devils in 5
Pitt in 7

Van in 4
Atl in 6
Phx in 6
Det in 6

Devils over rangers in 7
Pitt over Boston in 5
Det over van in 6
Stl. Over phi. In 4

Pitt over devils in 7
Det over Stl. In 6

Pitt over det in 7

Det may not even get out of the first rd but if they do, I see a run. Lidstrom should hopefully get healthy and they play both the top seeds weel. I have them winning in 6 cuz they will any game 7 they play (hence the game 7 loss to Pitt in finals)

That was crazy! Pitt fans gotta be po'd! I also can't believe the kings stole home ice right off the bat! I went to bed at 1-0 thinking the nucks were gonna roll!

That game last night was like heaven and hell for a Pens fan. Showed the first 20 that they're the team to beat for the cup. Then decided to stop playing against a scrappy Philly team that eventually came all the way back. Horrible. :F

Wow!!! Hell of a night tonight!

First time since 2001 that 3 playoff games have gone into OT on the same night!

I got to see the STL/SJ game. STL spent the entire 1st OT on the attack, and just never could get a goal. Sharks still have big names, who seem to disappear when it means most.... good game tho.

Yup, sharks are definately playoff tested... They just might be sending the blues home early!
