It's a big addition for Texas, which was in real danger if they couldn't acquire a front-line starter. Dempster is unlikely to maintain his 2.25 ERA in Texas, but he will solidify a rotation which has been wrecked by injuries and recent ineffectiveness. The veteran right-hander will be a free agent at year's end.
