|

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl_experts/post/Eli-Manning-is-suddenly-marketable-enough-to-be-?urn=nfl%2C67248
| Quote: | I wonder what's the largest amount of money one athlete has ever made from a single game or single play.
Mike Eruzione's goal was probably quite lucrative (especially since his earnings in hockey from that point on were somewhere around $0). Cedric Ceballos made way too much money after winning the dunk contest, and Buster Douglas's win over Mike Tyson drastically changed his financial future.
I'm not saying that Eli Manning is going the way of Mike Eruzione, Cedric "The Franchise" Ceballos, or Buster Douglas. I wouldn't expect that he would, but Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, and Shaun Alexander might advise Eli to use caution in signing up to be the next victim of the Madden Curse.
Rumors are out there that Eli's going to be the cover boy for EA Sports' Madden 09. I actually see no reason to believe that the rumors are true, but then again, there's no reason to believe they aren't true, either. He's got that kind of shine now.
Imagine that ... Eli Manning on the cover of Madden. It's still a little hard to grasp that Eli's that marketable.
If you'd have told me a year ago that that would've been a possibility, I'd have assumed that EA had gone bankrupt after sinking all their resources into their new "Doris Burke '09" WNBA game franchise, and they got Eli to do the cover for free after Trent Dilfer and Dennis Northcutt turned them down. |

Speaking of ADP, I heard on WFAN this morning that the rumors were it was Adrian Peterson or Eli Manning. _________________

Me too. Either way, I'm sick: Giants fan, Peterson dynasty owner.
Can't they put Larry Johnson or LT2 on the cover? They are already damaged goods. _________________ 12 team - PPR - Keeper

Settles the ADP/LT question in re-draft leagues.... _________________

Thought they picked a player based of whatever new feature they create... with a qb featured on 08.. I'd think a diff position is going to be on the cover. (AP.. or maybe TO?) _________________

Just put Bobby Engram on there so he can crash back down to earth and our stars, women and children can be safe. _________________

I say you go with the times and jump on the bandwagon.
Put Belechik on the cover and program into the game a secret code were you can secretly tape your opponents walk throughs. _________________ Möge die macht mit dir sein!

Nothing beats the bandwagon! Seats are comfy, and there's plenty of company! _________________

You could go with a QB WR duo on the cover. Make up a new statistical category.
CHEMISTRY between QB and WR. Makes duos like Manning & Harrison sick. Place it under the WR attributes and if give him a rating based on chemistry with his starting QB. SICK! _________________

What about Tony Romo...
Victoria's Secret did proclaim him to be the sexiest QB in the league...
or better yet...Jessica Simpson...
yeah...that's just perfect... |

And so it begins. This is why I was rooting for the otherwise not-so-likable Patriots, I don't want to be Manning-handled.
Well, that and sticking it to that 1972 Dolphins team. |
