Quote:
Cardinals GM Rod Graves has turned his focus to a long-term extension for Larry Fitzgerald.
The Cardinals followed through on their end of the bargain, landing the major QB upgrade requested by Fitz. Discussions will commence immediately, and Graves hopes to have his franchise receiver locked up before the start of the season. Fitzgerald will become the highest-paid player in franchise history as well as one of the highest-paid in the league, according to Graves.

Don't do it, Larry--it's a trap! Go to a team with a chance of winning the Super Bowl in the next few years.

It would be pretty unbecoming of Fitz to publicly lobby to sign Kolb, and then - after management does what he requested - jump ship.

Bad for his reputation? Certainly. Hilarious? Absolutely.

I would simply recommend against signing anything until the season is over. If Kolb seems to be the real deal, then all is well. If not--adios.

Can't blame 'em for trying, seems pretty savvy IMO.

The Bears already have Hester and everyone knows he is a #1 WR. Isn't Fitz from Minnesota? I'm sure he doesn't like the Bears either.

Believe it or not, but i think MIN would have a better chance than almost any other team - Fitz :love4: Minnesota.

Born and raised there... runs his receiving camps there... his dad is a sportswriter there & his relatives are still settled there... He was a ball boy for the Vikes whilst he was at high school and grew up watching Carter & Moss.

When asked if he ever thought about playing for the Vikings he said:

Fitz wrote:
“Honestly, I like coming home and just it being home. I go out with Adrian [Peterson] or Sidney [Rice] or Jared [Allen], guys like that, and they get mobed everywhere they go. I see how Joe [Mauer] gets mobbed everywhere. I’m good at just coming home and being able just to blend in and just being a regular guy. I kind of like that. So if it happened, it would obviously be a childhood dream come true, but if it doesn’t then I won’t lose any sleep over it.”

Draw your own conclusions, but id agree with BD. A vikes move wouldnt be so crazy, IF he ever moved away from the desert, that is.

I get the home-town connection, but let's be realistic--the only reason he said he would leave the desert is if they Cards weren't going to be a contender. It remains to be seen if they will or won't, but I'm not sure that the Vikings are the contender he's looking for. Patriots, Colts, Jets, Chargers--sure.

McNabb would look like an accurate passer again if he had Fitz to throw to every week.
