If nothing else, the mets do what they do and that is win on opening day! That's 33 wins in the past 43 yrs!

Wright also does what he does and that is get a hit on opening day. He's had a hit on every one of his 8 opening days!

Santana was sharp, David and Murphy were the lone bright spots on offense and Torres is on the DL.

Im not worried about Torres as I think they should give the kid a shot. He may add a little more pop to wit the bat.

Also, on a side note, I absolutely love that they brought the blue back into the outfield walls!

NOW it looks like a Met ballpark!

I don't think they'll be nearly as bad as many are predicting.

They have at least 3 impact bats in the lineup with Wright, Davis and Duda, and a couple others with potential. Santana's only a couple years removed from being the best pitcher in baseball. Niese and Gee both have talent and could take another step forward, and Dickey's a solid #3 starter. Pelfrey still sucks.

They're probably not a legitimate contender for the division, but they'll be better than a bunch of teams in the NL. Houston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, LA...All look worse than the Mets.
