Chargers released DE Luis Castillo.
Castillo was just re-signed in April after visiting the Chiefs and Patriots in March. Turning 29 in August, Castillo has reportedly been discussing his release with the front office for awhile. The Bolts want to go with youth up front, and Castillo is looking for more playing time. The 2005 first-rounder has missed 30 games in six years, including 15 last season after breaking his leg in the opener.
wow..remember that 2005 draft well, the Chargers and Cowboys both had 2 draft choices in the first round and both were moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and the Boys took Demarcus Ware with 11 and Spears at 22 and SD took Merriman with 12 and Castillo with 30....everyone at the time said the Chargers got the better end
of that deal....somehow I don't think so
Well, the Merriman pick came out of the Eli-Rivers deal, so essentially people thought it was a good deal; who wouldn't? Merriman was a beast if he couldve kept his head on straight. Marcus Spears I can live without, but if only Dallas opted for him and we got Ware. Hindsight is 20/20. Dunno wth happened to Castillo, played well for a few years, then dropped off hard.
