There's only one spot left in my $50 league, and through the process of elimination, I know they'll be getting a very good pick. It's a slow draft that starts immediately after everyone has paid. I want the draft to start ASAP because they can take a couple weeks to complete. Would it be bad if I advertised which pick it is in order to get someone to sign up quickly?

so you're telling someone what pick they would get before joining the league?
and?

i'm not sure how that's an ethical dilemma.

Yeah...

I'm having a hard time seeing how ethics applies to this at all.

If everyone else joined without knowing beforehand what pick they would have and then using the knowledge of the last pick as an incentive to join? I would say thats unethical.

I'm not even sure how the location of the pick makes it a 'good' pick, but maybe you run some goofy non-snake draft or something.

Afterall it seems different people prefer drafting from different spots anyway.

It would be unethical if you were somehow using this information to actually benefit your team. It seems all you're interested in doing is getting the draft to start sooner. I'm not sure how that actually benefits your team, so really, where do you even think that it's a question of ethics to find the last member of your league?

Because if I paid $50 to be in a league without knowing what pick I had and some yahoo joined just because he KNEW he had the #1 pick... I would be pissed.

Now if this is a free league then who cares?

Be pissed all you want.

Still has nothing to do with ethics.

For christs sake, you understand that there's only one spot left right? Do you really think it matter that much where you draft? Maybe in a 14 team league, otherwise, get over it.

Exactly. It doesn't affect my team or anyone else. It just a normal snake draft. I can see how it's uncool to me and 10 other owners to get the luck of the draw while the 12th owner knows he's getting a good pick. I can't decide if it matters at this point since everyone knows what pick he'd be getting.

Actually, it has everything to do with ethics! If everyone else joined without this knowledge, then you basically sold them out to fill your league. You credibility would be lost with me, and I would immediately ask for a refund and leave your league.

Have you asked your other league mates about this? They may not have a problem, and be just as anxious to get started as you.

Nope but obviously not everybody agrees on this topic, so I would definitely ask the league before doing it now.

That's your call.

The league has one spot open. At that point it really makes zero difference, or should make zero difference. If he were selling 2 or more spots and letting people choose you may have a point.

Otherwise you're telling me you care that much about where you pick to not play if you don't get the spot(s) you like. Good luck with that attitude.
