Ok I think it's a given that Calvin Johnson should be the first WR taken in this years drafts but, who should be the 2nd?
The next 8 WRs all come with as many question marks as they do talent.

1. A.Johnson- Injury concerns
2. Fitzgerald- Lack of a decent QB
3. Welker- Could loose targets to B.Lloyd, and Hernandez
4. H.Nicks- Comming off ankle injury
5. G.Jennings- Too many other targets in Green Bay
6. J.Jones, and V.Cruz, A.J. Green - Unproven after only one year
7. R.White- Could loose targets to Julio
8. M.Wallace- Contract issues

I am drafting at the tail end of a 12 team league, and am planning on taking 2 WRs. Maybe I'm looking a little too hard at this, but I could use some input on who you Sharks think should be yanked off the board after Megatron.

I think you gotta put AJ in this group too but I like Julio. Fitz is the man and idk how much it will hurt him having a weak qb...but its hard to go against him. Another reason I grabbed julio because I knew id grab Ryan and I wanted that combo

Brandon Marshall belongs in the discussion this year, too.

I didn't see AJ Green in there the first time.
But wallace isn't going that early in any league I've drafted in.
The one who's going the latest and has the best value imo is cruz...I think he went in the 4th in one of my leagues

That's one of the problems this year about drafting a WR early. There is so much value in the late 3rd-7th rounds and it is hard to justify a questionable WR in the 1st or 2nd.

I get youre not saying they arent any good - bu id suggest thinking that AjGreen and Julio Jones were unproven would be a little conservative. Everyones a rookie once, but how many looked as good as they did post lockout with no camps? They looked legit.

One year on, improved knowledge of the game, plenty of PT, experience of pro-game speed and consistency with their QB could hardly be seen as a negative for me. Just my 2c tho.

As an aside: As for Fitz, provided its not "happy feet" Kolb behind one of the worst OLs in the league under center then Fitz will be fine. Skelton has some issues, but so did DA and it affected Larry not a jot. Skelton starts, Fitz is ok. Kolb starts, Fitz production WILL drop as KK will checkdown or dumpoff in the face of any rush.

Like RB, with WR (after option #1) you can pick your poison to taste (PPR, personal prefs, homerism etc). Good topic :thumbright:

I think of all of the people you've listed, Wes Welker and Roddy White are the safest plays in PPR. I think they'll both lose targets, but I'd be surprised if they get bumped out of the top 12.

I think Andre Johnson and Julio Jones are the biggest upside plays in that list. If they both play 16 games and play up to their potential, they could easily finish in the top 3.

Upside, I think I'd rank them like this: A.Johnson>J.Jones>L.Fitz>H.Nicks>AJGreen>VCruz>GJennings>R.White>Welker>M.Wallace

Safe plays, I thin I'd rank them like this: R.White>Welker>Jennings>Fitz>AJGreen>J.Jones>VCruz>H.Nicks>A.Johnson>M.Wallace

If I was going with a WR in 1 and 2, I think I'd want one safe play, and one huge upside.

Graham and Gronk follow Calivn, along with Fitz. In a PPR, Welker is right there too, along with Marshall. Roddy, Jennings and Nicks are in the next group for me, followed by Julio, Cruz, and Green. In a PPR, I think Percy Havin should be as high as WR11. Only then do I look at AJ...he has soft-tissue leg injuries every year and his upside is no longer way better than everyone else...the rest of the elite WRs have caught up with him.

I would say Cruz and Julio - there will be so many balls in the air this year that there will be a whole bunch of emerging WR's this year. In one of my leagues we opened up the FLEX to include TE because of all the hybrids so you have to include a Jimmy Graham and Gronk in that picture too. Combine this with all the RBBC's and it will make for some interesting lineup decisions.

I agree that you if you are wanting WR/WR with first two picks that you need the floor to be as high as possible; meaning safe, consistent points. The old reasoning for taking RB/RB before the NFL started making it's transition into pass first (so to speak). Calvin is unquestionably the #1 (reinforced by watching him last night, simply "never" covered) after that I think Roddy/Welker need a mention due to their ppr consistency. After those three, I think you it's all 4a, 4b, 4c, etc based upon, as Jam said, personal preference, hunches, homerism, etc

Calvin, Fitz, Welker, Roddy.

If I was going WR/WR, which I wouldn't this year because of the depth at the position, I'd want 2 of these guys.

To me, none of these are worth a 1st round pick, and a second rounder is debatable. There isn't a scenario I can envision where I would start wr/wr this year.

I know its not the question you asked.

But . . .

If you take WRs with your first two picks, you're going to be chasing the other positions the rest of the draft. I've been getting three top 20 WRs in rounds 3-5. Are you sure the guys you're going to take at the top are going to outperform Hakeem, Jordy, Dez, Harvin, etc.?
