(Rotoworld) Peyton Manning has reportedly had issues throwing to his right. Analysis: ESPN's John Clayton and Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. have both picked up on this. Per Clayton, Manning is still having problems when trying to throw to his right for more than 10 yards. It's a reminder that Peyton has had three recent neck surgeries, is 36 years old and has shown signs of diminishing arm strength. He's slipped to No. 10 among fantasy quarterbacks in our latest Draft Guide update.

I don't think I want to trust Peyton as my QB1, even though I'm sure Peyton will be able to work around this issue. Upgrade Tamme/Decker?

You were trusting him before this news? :-k

He looks to be having issues with anything over 10 yards to be honest.

If he's passing quick and clean up to 10 yards, I would say Decker will probably be OK.

I wasn't targeting Manning as my QB1 before this and I'm certainly not moving him up my draft board after this news.

I'm skiddish on all things DEN passing. Decker and Thomas were looking like value picks (Decker especially), but this news and watching preseason action, I think there are similar values with safer situations in the same tier as Decker and Thomas. I don't like Tamme to be much more than a TE1/TE2 with Dreesan and Stokely around.

I'd be uneasy if I end up with Decker or Thomas as my WR2.

Ugh. I've actually had Peyton seperate from the Ryan/Romo/Rivers pack on my board as of late. I don't think this news changes my mind. I still trust him more than those three as of now.

Good thing he has a high football IQ so he can get way with losing alittle arm. . But I wouldn't target him...its going to take him a while to get comfortable with his wrs and the offense...

Not going to post the entire story from ESPN here but after I read it, it's not nearly as big a deal as the Rotoworld blurb seems to suggest.

As was indicated above by EZV, there were concerns about Manning coming in and this nugget only is evidence those concerns were legit in that he's probably never going to be able to throw as well as he did velocity wise before the surgery.

Not much as far as new news here. Ups and downs should be expected given what he's coming back from, part of the process. He's such a great QB that he doesn't need to gun it down field a dozen+ times/game to be effective, he just needs to do it a few times. Will he get there? and stay there? Don't know, that's worked into my price for him, to date someone else has offered more for him so I don't have him anywhere. Doubt it changes before my last draft this weekend, but we'll see. Price-wise his weapons have made sense though, I have at least one of Decker and Tamme in every one of my leagues.

Id trust him as just as much as any other QB out there. The man has the heart of a champion and that seperates and divides from all the rest. He'll be fine and has enough left to get you to the playoffs, Im certain of it.

I really wouldn't want to rely on Peyton as a QB1, but if anything this just gives more value to Decker/Tamme in PPR. As the season progresses and his confidence/strength improve it will be the Thomas show, IMO. It's not as if Peyton ever relied on frozen ropes to do his damage, he relies on timing and precision which can be compensated for in regards to his arm strength at this time.

This is good.

It will bring his ADP back to its risk/reward reality.

I agree.

Despite what some say about QB being so deep--if I don't get a Top-4 QB at the top for some reason--I would not want to drop down below the Ryan-Eli-Romo tier.

I think manning will throw for 3500 easy. 4000 is a stretch so truth lays in the middle 3750 25 tds 12 ints. Out of that D Thomas 1200 8 tds. Decker 900 4 tds Tamme 600 5 tds Take the remaining 1k 8 tds and sprinkle it around.

I think the "bad news" stories are simply Broncos FO realizing Peyton isn't Peyton anymore. Lower fan expectations. They still make the playoffs and everyone is happy. Manning getting boo'ed on national would get ugly and the bronco's know it. Bronco fans have the lombardi trophy already in route to Denver.

I regard Rivers in the same tier as Eli/Romo, but I agree- don't trust Peyton as your QB1
