Is the tank buying into this?

According to the Boston Globe, Aaron Hernandez has "ascended to (Tom) Brady’s No. 1 option."

Suggesting the current pecking order goes Hernandez, Wes Welker and Rob Gronkowski, the Globe's Greg Bedard is the second Boston writer to opine that Hernandez now tops the totem pole after a sterling training camp. Hernandez's seven targets in Friday's regular season dress rehearsal were three more than any other Pats pass catcher. It is evidence that Hernandez's role should only continue to grow, and that he's locked in as a top-four fantasy tight end despite the presence of more celebrated teammate Gronk.

I like hearing it, as I have him in a league, but I think it will be a fluid situation.

I think its possible and I hope its true. I know the patriots seem to want to get him involved more. He returned a punt last game too...I wouldn't doubt it.

Buying that he's "locked in as a top 4 TE" and that he's in the group of guys capable of finishing #1.

But I still expect a random rotation of which receiver gets the most targets each week among Hernandez, Welker and Gronkowski.

He's a great option in round 5 or later, and is a must start TE every week.

this is why i stayed away from welker. i think hernandez gets 20 more catches. yes pushes the 100 catch mark. he gets those from welker. i own him and will play him as my flex cause somehow i got him and graham.

Let's see regular season when Welker is actually playing and 4 quarters.

I still don't think we're gonna see a changing of the guard, but I do expect him to come significantly closer to Gronk this year... big reason I have Jimmy as the clear #1 TE off my board, and also why I'm high on Antonio Gates chances of being a top2 TE this season

I've read from different sources that he is going to cut into Welker's production this year. I will admit, NE only signing Welker to a one year deal seems to speak for itself. Regardless, Hernandez is one of the very few TEs who doesn't produce like a WR3 at best, which IMO, is a very rare commodity.

This is like saying Jimmy Graham is Drew Bree's No. 1 option....it will always be a fluid situation in this offenses, but we also already know how much each QB likes throwing to these guys. It's not a surprise.

this has come up in other threads recently, and it makes me laugh every time..all this fever over graham and gronk..with peoples first two picks for cripes sake!! Please..

With Hernandez coming back..Gronks numbers are going to plummet..Graham? Whatever, he's a frigging te, who went off the charts last year. Nice, but dont try and count on that light. If anyone is considering him repeating those numbers, i have a bridge to sell you.

Gronk I agree with, that passing attack is far more convoluted this year..but Graham..you're kidding right? Aside from the fact that NO lost a RZ target, having one less mouth to feed, did you see him play two nights ago? He looks like a man amongst children. On one play, he stiff-armed someone for seemingly 20 yards. On his TD catch, the CB looked like he was trying to climb a mountain while Graham just stood there. Having a blatant WR1 in your TE spot while the rest of the field is FORCED to start a WR3 or worse week in and week out is a significant advantage. He hasn't just been randomly inserted into the first round for no good reason.
