I just finished an ESPN 12-team mock draft. I picked in the 12 spot. (My real draft is tonight and I have the same 12 spot.)

Here are the results;

1:12 - Stafford QB
2:1 - Graham TE
3:12 - TRichardson RB
4:1 - Jordy Nelson WR
5:12 - DeSean Jackson WR
6:1 - S Ridley RB
7:12- Titus Young WR
8:1 - Michael Bush RB
9:12- Michael Floyd WR
10:1 - Pierre Thomas RB
11:12- Kendall Wright WR
12:1 - Tiawan Jones RB
13:12 - Brandon LaFell WR
14:1 - Jacquizz Rodgers RB
15:12 - Hanson K
16:1 - Buffalo DEF

I solidified my QB & TE spots but waiting till my turn again found me watching top RB/WR talent going off the board. Do you think its worth grabbing a top QB/TE with the first 2 picks if they are stud players and the struggle to get quality at the other positions? Is there enough talent to hold off on a TE like Graham and grab a top RB instead. This draft has my #1 RB as Richardson. That scares me.

What do you guys think?

Virtually every team I've seen take a stud QB then graham or gronk in the second have had a deficiency in WR or RB or both.

Yes. Horrible draft IMO

I think it's ok to go QB OR TE early, but not both.

I'd go RB, RB or RB, WR. There's plenty of QBs that will still be available. Maybe not Stafford but Romo, Cutler, Schaub, Vick or Rivers who could all have great seasons.

And there's plenty of TE sleepers that can help you out. Your banking on Gronk and Graham having seasons like last year which may not happen. Guys like Hernandez, Olsen, Tamme/Dreesen and others will have some kind of value.

That is the route I would go considering your draft results.

This. There have been about a dozen of these threads in the last week or so alone it seems.

Agree. And the QB is my choice between the two.

You must get at least one RB at the top.

Trent and Ridley as your top-2 RBs.

Scary.

And you don't need to draft guys like Floyd and Taiwan. They have virtually zero value right now.

The guy who had 12th pick in 12 team league went with Newton and Graham.

Edited: Steven Ridley as RB2, Michael Bush as RB3. Not a great situation

Do you have a flex? If so, I'd be frantically looking for a RB upgrade (and probably w/o a flex too)

PS I never understand why people bother posting draft results, etc, w/o posting league rules and roster spots... it's impossible to judge how good your roster is w/o knowing the details. PPR? 2QB? 2 RB? Flex? 4pt TDs? 6 pt TDs? See how much can change how your roster looks?

That's one mock draft result. I didn't even know ESPN did mocks, but even if they do, I wouldn't put a lot of trust in them.

Still, the results are telling. You take VBD to an extreme if you don't get starters that merit starting at the key positions. i'd go WR-WR before i went QB-TE. Not recommending either as a course of action, just saying.

I'd rather take Gates in the 3rd or 4th and get a quality RB, RB or RB, WR in the first two rounds. Quality QBs available later as well, to reiterate what others are saying.

Not a fan of going QB early. I know the "Experts" say taking a stud is a easy way of making it to the playoffs but you leave your team thin at WR and RB in regards to depth.
