I don't want to overreact based on 1 game but these boards are meant for chatter and this is something I'm bouncing around in my head.

So Meacham leaves town...

Henderson is and has always been basically a 1-and-done homerun threat wideout.

Graham and Colston are very similar types and typically if one has a monster game the other one will not (not saying this is set in stone but review the #'s last year and make your own observations...).

Is the slot man going to shine most weeks while Graham and Colston get all the main coverage etc.? I took a flier on him in round 13 in League #1 and am not likely to use him much but am hoping to maybe get trade value down the line for him in things can remain relatively stable for him.

6/120/1 to open up is promising and it's not like it's his first decent/big day with Brees during the years he has been with him... just now I think maybe he'll be the odd man out with the weakest coverage on him. An intelligent guy like Brees will likely look to exploit that type of matchup often I would think.

Just something I wanted to throw out there.. maybe a Saints homer can share some thoughts on it as well.

Intriguing...
But really Moore didn't do a lot until late in the game...If Henderson is out week2 (possible concussion) then I think he has a good day. Else you never know what you will get. Good flex play or #3 WR though.

Maybe he'll develop into a consistent option, but Graham's the only guy in that receiving group I'd really want to rely on.

Moore didn't do anything until the 4th. Most of his yards (90 or so) came in garbage time. I wouldn't start him just yet. Pick him up? Sure, if you have the room, but I wouldn't kill yourself to get him.

Colston was very gimpy and Graham was receiving a lot of defensive attention, so until these change Moore is a likely beneficiary.

Agreed here. Something worth noting: Brees 23 of 52 attempts came in 4th quarter. Lance Moore had every single catch in the 4th quarter. There are likely not to be too many games they are behind and they were down 16 points with 11 minutes left in the 4th.

Going deeper: Moore did not have a catch until about 7 minutes left in the 4th. I was not watching, but I imagine there was quite a bit of prevent going on there. Moore had 2-41 all within the last 30 seconds when I could almost be sure WAS was giving them that.

Not to mention, Colston actually had a decent game that would have been a great game had he ran for a TD and not fumbled at the 2. He still had 11 targets and some bad drops. Colston and Graham are still the top receivers in NO. Moore will have a few days like this, but will end up having very little value in the long run. This happens every year with the first couple of Saints games and in the end it is still Graham and Colston.

From what I read, Moore was used similarly as he has before, so I wouldn't adjust expectations. Colston being hobbled, Graham being doubled, and no one stepping up to the Meachem role yet led to more targets than usual. As long as Colston is hobbled and no one else steps up I wouldn't use him as anything more than a #4, but if needed I wouldn't hesitate to start him either. If he's out there in the leagues I have K Wright and the other Steve Smith I may pick him up, just as a reserve though.

There are 40 more balls going around this year with Meachem gone.

And if they continue to play BAD football like yesterday, he is certainly worth a spot on any ff roster

Hell, he was a 9th round pick in my league and was started yesterday.

I'm not sure how consistent he will be, but that Saints D looked horrible, so more catch-up/garbage time seems likely.

I find considerable irony in the thesis here. Lance Moore has a big game -> Lance Moore will be the most consistent Saint.

I do think Moore will have a better year than last year, and I own him lots, but I wouldn't imagine anyone in a Saints uniform will be consistent other than Brees.

I think you forgot about a dunker named Jimmy.

Simply a thought I'm throwing out there. Week 1 is almost in the bag and we're all trying to get our head around things -> what better place than the tank? :Drink)

Relax. I'm just giving you a hard time :D

I rather like Moore this season. I doubt anyone in New Orleans will be consistent, but his role is less murky than it used to be in the Big Easy.

I pegged Lance as a sleeper in every league, very undervalued

With that said, I think consistency is gonna be his achilles heel. His chances at a 2008-esque season are nice though.
