I read that he died today after an 18 month bout with brain cancer. As a kid, one of my favorite things to watch was a NFL Follies videotape in which he did the narration. He obviously did tons of more stuff with NFL Films but that one sticks out in my mind.

I pumped his gas once at the gas station I used to work at. I didn't say anything as he looked tired.

My dad used to watch his films on i think ABC sports. That voice always seemed to put me a sleep. Still a Icon of his days.

RIP.

Due to the foresight of he and his father, the way we watch the game was changed forever when they started NFL Films. Words cannot express what a loss this is for the NFL. I sure hope he had the presence of mind to instill the right minded people to assume control on his passing. I'd hate to see NFL go downhill because he is no longer with us.
