did i get a steal for picking up donnie avery from the ww?

he got around 20 looks in 2 weeks
hes on a colts team that likes to pass, indy run game is not that good this year
they will be behind often, forcing higher passing numbers
defenses focus on reggie wayne
luck looks pretty good

did anyone else pick him up, while everyone else was picking up TEs like mad this week

Yea I missed out on my waivers for richardson and a brown but ended up with Avery. If collie keeps missing time he could be a solid wr#3

I have him on my bench but I honestly don't see him as more than a flex or bye week fill-in even if Indy remains pass happy...

If I'm wrong though I'll gladly give him a shot in a few weeks. :thumbright:

I agree with that. Avery will be a fill in flex play for now. If collie misses any significant time then that changes for sure. But any WR getting 11 targets is worth stashing. I have andrew hawkins stashed too. Can anyone say wes welker!!!!! they will be talking about this guy very soon...grab him if you can!!

I like his potential as Collie is constantly hurt and Luck continues to improve. Wayne isn't getting any younger yet will still draw the #1 DB. In ppr I can see him being an every week WR3. I am benching him this week for Lafell though.

I think he is too risky of a start if Collie is active, we should get a much better idea of his role whenever Collie returns to game action but that week you shouldn't start either of them. If Collie is ruled out though, by all means, send Avery in there - 8+ targets each week.

He's on my roster and I'm going to try and stash him until Collies next concussion. It shouldn't take long.

Concur. If Collie is active, wait and see how he plays and what the distribution of targets is.

There are times when a team can field three fantasy-relevant WRs, especially during bye weeks.

Plus, are we sure Collie is a better player than Avery? Maybe Collie becomes the third WR, even when healthy.

His upside is fairly low. Collie is the guy when healthy in the short term and there are a couple young wrs who may get more reps as the year goes on.

No, we are not.

And I'm not at all confident Collie's production wasn't mostly due to being the open option in a Peyton Manning offense.

As others have said he is certainly a worthy stash, and worth starting so long as Collie's out. But while Collie is "injury-prone", let's not forget that Avery has been slowed by injuries many times too. Here's to hoping though, I grabbed him in several leagues.

Collie and Avery are the same fantasy guy. They'll get plenty of points when healthy, but neither can stay that for very long.

Avery is a top flight talent...WHEN healthy. If you have him, ride him until he is injured. I would be happy to start him as my flex behind Roddy and Reggie.

He is a far better WR3 than the likes of Boldin, DHB, and even Cracktree in my opinion.
