How do you guys view Antonio Gates right now? Are you looking to add him to your team at a low cost for better times ahead, or do you think this is his season and trying to trade him away for anything you can get?

A guy in my league just cut him, I am trying to claim him on waivers and giving up Donnie Avery.

He's actually in good health for once. He can't really play worse and as mentioned in an earlier post, Rivers still looks for him in the end zone. They just haven't been able to connect. He has slowed down, but speed hasn't been part of his game for a couple years and he's still produced.

If you're not desperate at WR I'd drop Avery for him without hesitation.

Mixed on Gates but I'd probably grab him if Avery is the player I'd have to part with.

Gates targets are down from last year but the big difference in production pops up when you look at his reception % vs targets this year (down a lot) and the fact that he doesn't look like a red zone target favorite anymore with zero TD's through 5 weeks.

We're used to him putting up 7-10 TD's a year which are a big part of his appeal regardless of your scoring format.

My gut tells me something something is broken with SD's passing game with Rivers needing to go up against the Saints horrible pass defense this past week to post his first 300 yard game of the year.

If I were drafting today I'd take about 6-7 guys over him.

I'd still hold tight if I have him somewhere as you aren't gonna get much right now, bench him if you need to.

Trying to trade him for Kenny Britt as we speak. If the trade is declined I will drop Gates.

TE has been my weak point all season. I have been plugging and playing guys so far all year. I picked up Owen Daniels last week, but not sure if his current production continues.

Owen Daniels is Low end TE1 probably. He will be solid. But id still get Gates for possible trade value...

With Rudolph, Witten, and Hernandez in tow at TE as my starters I'm not pitching an offer.

Holding in a dyno, but probably starting Celek over him until Gates gives me a reason not to. I'll only bench Celek if I don't like his matchup.

I grabbed Rudolph a few weeks ago after his 2 TD game, but have stuck with Gates out of stubborness & maybe a little of hope mixed in. Is it time for the Rudolph call up?

I have Gates and Rudolph as well and started Gates every week, like you mentioned, out of stubbornness. Beginning this week, Rudolph is in my lineup (which means Gates will go off :wink: )

I just dropped Pitta for Rudolph. I have rode Gates all year so far and it has been trying to say the least.

Washington is giving up 2nd most pts to tight ends so far this year, so I might roll with Rudolph over Gates this week.

If you're really struggling at the TE position I'd say he's a good buy low, but there are plenty of solid options this season it seems like (most without the injury history to worry about).

He's going to randomly go off for 2 tds/100 yards one week and everyone will proclaim he's back.... :Drink)

That will be the week I might be able to move him. Right now his value is pretty close to nothing.
