Interested to hear people's thoughts on this. What's your strategy w/r/t carrying defenses? Some options:

I'm sure it's league-dependent (have to react to other owners who hoard defenses). I used to be all about maximizing bench WR/RBs options, but I've switched to a "carry two defenses and play matchups" approach. E.g., just dropped Brandon Bolden to pick up CHI Def when they hit the waivers for a bye. Do you give up on potential high upside guys to carry defenses?

Usually I try to plan ahead and pick up defenses that have good matchups, sometimes carrying two. This year I snagged Arizona and have been riding them because of both them being very good and having a good schedule. I don't really ever draft a defense before the last few rounds.

Stopped drafting Defenses two seasons ago and started discussing picks on here. The dropoff in top tier Defenses vs following crappy teams on the WW is not as significant as drafting roster depth for bye weeks.

I do all 3.

Weeks 1-4: I draft a big name defense (2nd to last round), then ride them until they dissapoint for a couple weeks or suffer a major injury (Jets)

Weeks 5-9: Then I'll find a hot defense with a good matchups each week

Weeks 10-16: As the playoffs approach I'll make room to roster two defenses and stream a week ahead (no need to keep that roster spot filled with some great hype that will never pan out- Im looking at you Jacquizz)

On a final note, when streaming- always lean toward defenses playing at home.

This.

Except in my league I'm forced to start rostering two defenses a little earlier (Wks 5-8) cause most of my league mates draft two defenses

Never used to carry more then 1 defense, until last year. I play the matchups a lot and since more owners are doing that you have to start looking farther and farther ahead to get a good one with a decent matchup.

Drafted Philly and held. Once they showed they weren't doing anything, went with a week to week system.

I always try and pick 2-3 teams each year that are just awful on offense. Rookie qbs, no o-lines, those are teams that i target when picking defenses.

My top 3 teams this year are KC, MIA and SEA. So for example, this week I'm playing bucs vs KC.

It works out for me, i usually find 1 of 3 defenses and net 5+ pts a week.
