Jets beat writer Brian Costello first broke the news. Perhaps he got the surprising scoop from someone close to Ryan's twin brother. Costello advises to forget about a Ryan Brothers reunion, as secondary coach Dennis Thurman has already been promoted to Jets defensive coordinator. Ryan's Dallas defense was among the league's stingiest early in the season before losing several key players to injuries.

Dallas racing with NYJ for biggest joke of a team.

NYJ winning by a large margin, but DAL closing in fast.

Next to Lovie Smith, 2nd biggest candidate for DC vacancies on the market right now.

Maybe the jets will fire heirs so Rex can bring his bro over.

So they weren't joking this morning when they said everyone was gone? Including the trainer!

Full of win.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/headlines/20130108-cowboys-fire-defensive-coordinator-rob-ryan-after-two-seasons.ece

Rob Ryan has been released as the Cowboys defensive coordinator.
“I have no sour grapes,’’ Ryan said. “I know I did a hell of a job. I will find another spot.’’
Ryan is the second coach to be let go in the past 24 hours. Running backs coach Skip Peete was informed on Monday he would no longer be a part of the Cowboys staff.
Ryan was two years into the job and has one year left on his contract. He was in Turks & Caicos with his wife, Kristin, and had just returned from dinner Tuesday evening when he received a call from head coach Jason Garrett.
“It didn’t last long,’’ Ryan said of the call.
“They want uncomfortable. I’m comfortably numb."
“I enjoyed my time here. I have no hard feelings. But it doesn’t matter if I coach here or not. I will find another spot.
“I’m too damn good.’’
Owner Jerry Jones declared last week that things would be uncomfortable at Valley Ranch after the team’s second consecutive 8-8 season.

Parting cheap shots:
"I'll be out of work for like 5 minutes," he said in the most Ryan-y comment on being fired possible.

"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better, Ryan said, according to ESPNDallas.com. "I think I did a good job and I think our staff did a good job on defense trying to compete with what we had at the end of the year. But the best job we did was when we were able to coach our starters."

Wasn't the defense pretty decent when they actually had linebackers?

Jerruh just wanted more face time during the games

Rob is far bigger than Lovie. By at least a hundred pounds.

Best football news I've gotten all week!

LOL. Team loses 9 players to injury then fires a great defensive mind. Brilliant!
