Hey gang...

Saw some VBD calculators out on the web that cost money and haven't really seen any that really impressed me so I wrote my own. It's not perfect *yet* but it's better than a static cheatsheet from any website and it's better than a lot of the calculators I've seen out there.

Note: Any calculator is only as good as the predictions in it. I'd recommend looking over the stats I have in this one before you go with it's predictions. If you dissagree with my predictions I'd recommend putting your own in.

It's just an excel spreadsheet with a bunch of calculations in it. Don't sort the collumns yourself, use the built in Macro to do it once you've entered your data otherwise you'll bork it up.

Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated.
Original with only Overal VBD displayed in the Position Cheat Sheets:

Version 1.2 with the cheat sheets more printer-friendly and with Position sheets displaying player projected points and overall sheet showing Projected Value.

:) Would have posted it sooner but I had a PPR draft last night and hadn't used it for one yet. It did really well for me so I figured it was time to share.

There is also that other little aspect that I didn't really WANT to share till I was sure all my shark drafts were done (or nearly done).

I like it...

A couple suggestions though... I don't start any TEs in my league... just WR/TEs... perhaps make it so you can classify TEs as WRs easily.

Also, for some reason in my scoring system Defs showed up as "#VALUE!" at the top of my VBD list.

I also wanted to factor Kickers out so I made them 0 in my lineup requirements. If possible... it would be cool if I selected "0" for my lineup requirements they don't display at all on my vbd list... Or maybe I could put the scoring in and they'd sort themselves on the K/Def lists but not into the main list...

Thanks! I'll take that into account.... I'm concerned as to why the defenses showed up as #value... check what you put into the scoring system and make sure you didn't put any spaces (or leave any entries blank). Don't use blank entries, use 0 if there's no points. And don't use spaces, I didn't do error checking on my formulas to keep the spreadsheet small enough for a PDA to use.

If you want to set up a FLEX position like WR/TE count it as .5 towards WR and .5 towards TE or just 0 towards TE and 1 towards WR if that's how you'd rather do it. Just remember that putting a 0 in a collumn will set your TE's VERY low on your VBD. Same for RB/WR just put .5 to RB and .5 to WR.

Could the person who voted no state why? I'd like to improve this thing in future so if you have a reason please let me know why you didn't find it useful. If the data is what you dissagree with I wrote it so you can put your own values in.

I think it is great. THanks!!!!!!!

I did get a macro error......
Code: Select all
  Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("Q2"), Order1:=xlDescending, Header:=xlGuess, _
        OrderCustom:=1, MatchCase:=False, Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _
        DataOption1:=xlSortNormal

I got the #value error for TE when I had 0 for TE required. When I changed it to 1, I got values.

My league has 2 rbs 2 wrs, and 2 flex spots. The flex spots are RB/WR and WR/TE, so adding that flexibility would rock.

Again....thanks!

Is this different/better than the free VBD spreadsheet that FootballGuys offers?

it looks like since I put 0 in TE... the DEF value is based off of how many are in TE (?) so it came up as a bad value...

once I put in .5 for TE and 2.5 for WR... the DEF started showing up. I would like to do a sheet without TEs though. I don't like drafting them in my format.

Ahh I bet it's the fact that it's using the 0's to determine roster size...

Putting 0 in TE gave you an error on Defense?

I'll fix the 0 error checking and I'll double check my formula for defenses.... sounds like it may be pulling from the wrong collumn.

Thanks guys, found the problem with defenses, it was pulling from the wrong starting lineup spot. I also see the problem with the #Value error when you put 0 beside a roster slot value (IE 0 defense or 0 TE) I'll work on fixing THAT later. I've uploaded the corrected spreadsheet to fix Defense pulling it's roster size from the wrong cell.

Basically the #Value message comes up because when it runs the calculation based on a 0 roster size it gets an incorrect result for the offset that throws the #VALUE message up because it doesn't know what to do with a null value. I'll have to put an IF statement into it later today... got a con call in 5 so I don't have time to fix that right now.
