Draft Analysis
Round 2, Pick 3
Positives He's coming off an excellent season where he gained 2000+ yards from scrimmage.
The Giants offense should be further improved this year with the addition of Burress and the likely improvement of Manning.
Tiki is one of the best receivers in the league out of the backfield and that always helps in a PPR league.
He's only missed two games in the past seven years. Negatives He has been known to fumble in the past (a lot) but he appeared to remedy that problem last year.
Brandon Jacobs is being touted as a possible vulture at the goal-line. However Tiki was very effective at the goal-line last year.
Barber's receiving stats were down a little last year with Manning under center. Draft Strategy It was tough to pass on a guy like Barber in a PPR league like this. I'm a little wary of him coming off a career year, and possibly losing goal-line carries to Jacobs, but he's going to get a lot of touches/receptions, and he should be a solid #2 RB in this league. Round 2, Pick 7
Positives Catches a lot of passes out of the backfield, great for 1-pt reception leagues. E. Manning is a young QB who will likely use Tiki as a safety valve quite often. Negatives Might lose a couple of TDs to rookie Brandon Jacobs. Draft Strategy I had to toss a coin to decide between Barber or Westbrook. I am very excited to have 2 of the top 8 RBs picking out of the 6-7 slots. (Contributed by: Silver)
Round 2, Pick 4
Positives Consistently and quietly racks up the yards on a mediocre team where he is essential to the offense in a generally poor division. He's also a capable receiver, which works well in this 1pt/rec scoring. Any year, like last, he's a threat to climb to the top during the regular fantasy season at a low cost. All this, and how can you not like a guy named Tiki? Negatives Coach Coughlin has been itchy for a guy with a bit more girth than Barber to pound the stripe. Ron Dayne wasn't that guy -- and didn't want to be that guy if you've got any visions of his 5'11" 245 self vulturing some scores in Denver -- Cloud still isn't that guy, but rookie Brandon Jacobs might be. Even then, Jacobs probably has a ways to go before he earns his time, and Tiki did well enough last season where I don't expect him to lose anything beyond the shortest of distances. Lastly, here's to hoping he's still got some forearm glue left from last season. Draft Strategy He's coming off a career year, so chop off at least 15% of his 04-05 points for the sake of caution. What goes up must come down, so do not *plan* for him to exceed a guy like Edgerrin James in value though he did in some leagues last year.
Tiki has also got a young QB at the helm with a year under his belt in Eli Manning, who you have to expect to come out of his shell, but Tiki is a capable receiver. Best case, Eli becomes a viable threat and opens up opportunities, and Tiki goes hog wild. Worst case, yardage goes down, dumpoff receptions go up, and its a fantasy wash. (Contributed by: CleffedUp)
