Draft Analysis
Round 1, Pick 4
Positives Rushing yards have gotten better every year for the past three years(1175, 1435, 1696) His TD's have remaind consistently high over the same span (18, 16, 20). Hasn't missed a game in the same 3 year span. This is essentially a contract year he has a one year franchise tender. Negatives His receiving totals have dwindles the past 3 years in a row. From a high of 59 in 2002 to the current low of 29 last year. In the points per reception leagues this is the only concern. I expect a bounce back in this category this year. Draft Strategy Picking at #4 I thought I'd be going after Deuce McAllister or Edge. Imagine the smile on my face as I see Alexander fall into my lap! I now have a super stud at RB and can experiment with a receiver in round 2 as at pick 2.09 all the trully worthy RB's will be gone. (Contributed by: Mad_Puppy)
Round 1, Pick 2
Positives Last years #1 RB in most scoring systems with around 1900 combined yards and 20 TDs and that was accomplished in a season in which he caught only 23 balls as compared to an average of about twice that in his previous 3 years as the feature back in Seattle. I expect this year, even more than last, Holmgren will save his job by getting the ball in Alexander's hands at every opportunity. Negatives Everyone heard Alexander say that he was "stabbed in the back" after falling a yard short of the 2005 rushing title. Seattle, for all their talent, has not lived up to expectations. The offense should be a juggernaut, but instead they have been inconsistent. Draft Strategy At the #2 slot, only bad things can happen. Alexander is at minimum a top 5 pick and at best the top player in fantasy football. I didn't see the same upside for the other guys out there. With my next pick not until 2.11 I had to get a bona fide stud. (Contributed by: regas14)
Round 1, Pick 3
Positives Combine a easy schedule and his desire for the big money contract and it's hard to pass on him. As a bonus, his offensive line has had the benefit of Walter Jones for the entire training camp. His excellent health makes selecting him this high very low risk. Negatives If he starts to feel slighted with fewer carries he could slip up. Holmgren has already mentioned using Morris to spell him more. I think that may have been Holmgrens way of bringing him down a notch. Draft Strategy At pick 1.03 this was an easy choice. I had hoped he would fall to me and couldn't be happier. He should be neck and neck with LT this year. (Contributed by: Davlar8)
