Played with less burst and shiftiness last season than fantasy owners have grown accustomed, due to what has been described as an excruciating toe injury. There's that, the infamous shoulder injury which sidelined him in the playoffs before that, and the fact that he's now 30. Oh, and San Diego wants to continue to keep his backup plenty involved. Nevertheless, if he's even 90% healthy you've got to consider him in the first round of your fantasy draft. This is one of the greatest RBs ever to play that we're talking about; he could very well post MVP-caliber numbers this year and next, for all we know.

Positives He's one of the best runningbacks ever, and that tinted visor looks fabulous with the powder blue uniform. Negatives No runningback has been as good, as healthy, for as long as LaDainian Tomlinson. Not Faulk, not Dickerson -- nobody. If you take the liberties found in modern mathematics, and treat future seasons as available but simply unobserved outcomes, every consecutive outstanding season becomes increasingly improbable. By this reasoning, a 7th consecutive outstanding season is highly unlikely. Draft Strategy If the only argument against the best runningback in the league requires the invocation of Marshall Faulk, Eric Dickerson, and the type of head-spinning math found in theoretical physics, you had better take him at 1.01. Positives He's LaDainian Tomlinson. Negatives I may not be good enough for him. Draft Strategy I just couldn't see going any other way with the first pick.
