Draft Analysis
Round 9, Pick 2
Positives A wonderfully efficient QB, Garrard was QB#12 in shark leagues on points per start last season. Despite less than ideal WRs, he still posted an impressive 64% completions, 209 ypg, and a 18/3 TD/INT ratio. The Jaguar running game gives Garrard breathing room and space for his WRs to operate. Negatives For as athletic a guy as Garrard is, his rushing stats are remarkably mediocre. Although the Jags brought in some new targets for him, both of his top guys are currently injured and will need some ramp-up time at the start of the season. Draft Strategy When I drafted Derek Anderson, I knew I would have to invest in a quality backup. Garrard is the definition of a solid QB2, offering consistent production and low downside. I usually prefer drafting upside players, but with DA in the fold I need to be a bit more conservative at the position. (Contributed by: Agenda42)
Round 8, Pick 1
Positives Had 18 TDs in 12 games last year to go along with 2500 yards. This year he adds Jerry Porter as his no. 1 and gets to play a full 16 games. Hard to imagine him finishing out of the top 10 QBs this year. Negatives
Draft Strategy Need a starting QB and doubt any I want will make it back to me next round. (Contributed by: hawkenstein)
Round 9, Pick 1
Positives Will get some rushing yards/tds to go with solid passing numbers. Negatives Passing attempts won't put him in the top 5, but could end up as a low end QB1. Draft Strategy I was looking for a good backup to Palmer and Garrard in the 9th is good value as one of the first QB2's taken. (Contributed by: Faraim)
