Draft Analysis
Round 3, Pick 11
Positives Joe is a top 10 WR with huge game possibilities. He has a solid core around him on offense in QB Brooks and RB McAllister. He has the attitude (cockiness) that drives him to be one of the best WRs in the game. Negatives Inconsistency is the main negative here. He could go a game or two without even appearing in the box score. Then just as you consider benching him he comes right back with 120Yds on 8 catches and 2 TDs. If he could do that more often you'd be talking about him in the same breath as Moss, Harrison and Holt. Draft Strategy With my 3rd and 4th picks, I was planning on taking a WR and a RB. I looked over the WR list and 2 guys left stood out, Horn and Hines Ward. Being in the 11th spot, I decided to take a WR first because I knew Pat would be looking to take at least one with his next two picks (he actually took WRs with both picks leaving me my choice of RBs, thank you). I decided to take Horn over Ward because of the bye weeks, Ward's was the same as my top RB Fred Taylor. In this format especially I like to spread out the bye weeks so I have as many players on my roster as possible in play each week. Plus with Horn's big game ability, he does well in this format. When he forgets to show up on the box score, I still have the rest of my roster to cover for him. (Contributed by: Greg_Allen)
Round 4, Pick 5
Positives Did anyone see the cell phone game? Not just the much discussed celebration, but actually the offensive display by Horn? What a show. 4 TDs, 133 yards. While he may have only had 6 more TDs all year, he was playing hurt, and missed some time because of that opening day knee strain. The guy is a talent that cannot be denied. He is the QB's goto guy. And he certainly isn't a one game show. He's has been a top 10 WR four years in a row, with 26 TDs in the last 3. Negatives 32 years old, but that is acceptable in a WR. The knee injury required off season surgery, but apparently went fine. And he failed to top 1000 yards last season. Draft Strategy I wanted another top WR and was happy to see Horn here in the 4th round. Having a top flight foursome at RB/WR will free me up to go a little lighter in the depth department, and maybe draft lesser positions (TE, PK, D) a bit earlier than usual, giving me an edge at those spots as well. Round 3, Pick 10
Positives Solid numbers every week because of McCallisters ability to keep the defenses on the line of scrimmage. Boo Williams will also keep the defenses occupied up the middle. Negatives Needs to stop trying to be TO with the stunts and stay focused. His QB Brooks can be erratic at times. Needs Stallworth to emerge on the other side. Draft Strategy Joe is a WR that will give you a good total every week and the continued developement of Brooks and Stallworth should help keep him in the top 10 of WRs this year.
