Strength of Schedule
Strength of schedule is calculated from the opponents projected fantasy points allowed for the RB position. The best rating is +16 which gives the player the advantage against the defense and indicates an easy opponent, the worst rating is -16 which gives the defense the advantage and indicates a tough opponent.
Fantasy Analysis
Maroney broke a bone in his shoulder and was done after week 5 last season. This season New England's back field is a muddled mess with RB's Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis all vying for playing time. Due to the limited amount of action he sees in the passing game Maroney is not worth much more than a late round flier until the RB depth chart becomes settled.

Rushing: 450 Yards, 3 TD.
Receiving: 45 Receptions, 355 Yards, 2 TD.

New England Patriots Team Talk
Does any of you know what is the status of Sammy Morris? Bellicheck is a fantasy owners nightmare!!! why does he always have to be secretive about his injured players? It drives me nutZ!!! Please if anyone has heard anything...let me know! ...

I haven't heard a thing!...

Top Ten reasons these players don't go over their 2007 stats. 10. Josh McDaniels just left town .... who's going to orchestrate the offense? 9. Kevin Faulk is getting old and slow. 8. Peta protests at Gillette after the Mike Vick signing ...

According to multiple reports, the Patriots are considering a trade that would land Raiders linebacker Derrick Burgess in exchange for a second- or third-round draft pick. The 6-foot-2, 260-pound Burgess, who turns 31 on Aug. 12, is a two-time Pro ...

Now Jason Taylor is also a free agent. Just a few months shy of his 35th birthday, he's unlikely to command a megabucks contract or a long-term one. He's coming off a down year with the Redskins (just 3 1/2 sacks after averaging slightly more than ...

Draft Analysis
Round 12, Pick 9
Positives
Maroney is the best pure runner on the New England Patriots. The problem is, New England is a pass first option, Tom Brady is healthy, and Maroney usually isn't. It seems like decades ago that Maroney was selected ahead of the likes of DeAngelo Williams, Addai, LenDale White, Jones-Drew...yet that was only three years ago. I don't expect much from Maroney, but if healthy and late in the season with the weather a factor, Maroney might be able to sneak in a spot fantasy start.
Negatives
The Patriots backfield is very crowded as Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, and Kevin Faulk are in the mix. Maroney is probably the least likely of the four to see playing time in the passing attack. There's also the issue of missing nearly all of 2008 due to injury. Plenty of negatives here.
Draft Strategy
We're into the 'flyer' stage of the draft. Maroney is a guy that 'could' emerge, probably won't, but if the Patriots are involved in a late season game with weather being a factor, a healthy Maroney is capable of a 2TD/100 yard performance. Certainly big 'ifs', but in the 12th round of the draft, not a bad place to take a stab. (Contributed by: doug_coutts)
