Draft Analysis
Round 3, Pick 3
Positives Marvin Harrison is the picture of Consistancy ... he's the WR1 on one of the most prolific passing offences in all of football, his QB already holds the record for most TD passes in a single season and with the departure of Edgerine James from the Colts this offseason Payton & Marvin could be in line to eclipse the record set in 2004; Over the past 4 seasons Harrison has posted 405 Rec/100+ per yr; 48 TD's/12 per yr; 62 games played/15.5 per yr; 5253 Yds/1313 per yr .. those are outstanding numbers for a WR1; Harrison is my WR2 and I'm liking that LOTS! Negatives Harrison turn's 34 this month ... well it could be a negative! Reggie Wayne is on the other side ... well it could be a negative! The Colts have a tougher schedule than last seasons's cake walk ... well that could be a negative too, but I really don't see too many negatives when it comes to drafting Harrison as a WR2 Draft Strategy My whole draft strategy is based on consistant, proven performers that will bring solid scoring punch week in week out ... I don't want boom or bust players and will gladly accept the steady numbers a Holt/Harrison combo will provide week after week after week!
Sure he's getting up there in years and he may be losing a step, but till I see it with my own eyes I won't worry about it; the Colts will be chuckin' the rock around the yard all season long as Peyton goes after his TD record ... Wayne will take some, Stokley may take a l'il too ... but Marvin is still the MAN in Indy! (Contributed by: NSMapmaker)
Round 3, Pick 2
Positives WR1 for what I expect to be the top passing offense this year. Negatives Emerging WR2 (Wayne) could take more stats than I'd like away. Draft Strategy I had a tough choice here between a marginal RB2 (Dunn, C Taylor) or the last of the top WR's left on the board. If R Bush had fallen this far I would've taken him here. I decided to take my chances on my RB2 later and go with the most consistent WR1 left on the board (10 TD's each of last 7 years). (Contributed by: Faraim)
Round 2, Pick 10
Positives The most consistent fantasy WR in the league along with Torry Holt. With Edgerrin James gone to Arizona, that's one less mouth to feed in the TD department. Marvin and Peyton know each other better than Bert & Ernie. The greatest QB/WR touchdown duo of all time. Negatives I don't know if you can call this a negative but, with Marvin, you know pretty much exactly what you're getting for production. He doesn't have the upside of guys like Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens, or Randy Moss -- but he doesn't have the downside that they bring either. Everyone knows that T.O. can become a cancer to the Cowboys, Moss is oft-injured, and Fitzgerald has Boldin AND now Edge to share touches in the offense. Draft Strategy If you want consistency and not too much worry at the #1 WR slot, then Harrison is your man. Don't hesitate to grab him in the 2nd round during the "WR run" you'll be experiencing in 2006 drafts. (Contributed by: JayP37)
