Draft Analysis
Round 1, Pick 7
Positives
The sky is the limit for Shaun Alexander. He had 1,725 yards, 16 TD's and 42 receptions combined in 2003. Within Alexander's career he has put on some of the finest rushing displays ever witnessed on the football field. He's young, plays every game and Mike Holmgren has given him the rock consistently in any situation. In the Wildcard playoff game against the Packers last season, Alexander finished up his season with an impressive 3 rushing TD performance.
Negatives
There were times last season where Alexander's consistency was questioned. It was hard to predict which games he was going to explode in but in this format that matters less. The Seahawks also have another talented back in the wings in Maurice Morris.
Draft Strategy
With 1.07 I was taking best available RB all the way. I was pleased to get Alexander as two RB's I had ranked lower than him went before him. (Contributed by: Tony_Holm)

Round 1, Pick 6
Positives
Touchdown machine on one of the elite offenses in the NFL. At least 16 tds 1600+ total yards and 42 catches the last 3 years. He should easily match those this year.
Negatives
Will this be the year Maurice Morris steals carries? Will Matt Hasselbeck continue his stellar play?
Draft Strategy
Picking this early you need a cornerstone to build on and Alexander fits that perfectly. I don't think championships are won in the first 2 rounds but they can certainly be lost. I wanted a safe pick and was glad Alexander was available. Portis didn't get strong consideration because of all the change in Washington. (Contributed by: berndog)

Round 1, Pick 6
Positives
326 carries last year, 1730 total yards and 16 total TDs; Alexander is as solid as they come. He doesn't fumble (only 13 in 994 carries), and is on a confident team that will make a Superbowl run this year.
Negatives
Only draw back I can see is that with the number of carries Alexander gets, he could be an injury risk.
Draft Strategy
Up until Sunday, I was sure I could get Ricky Williams at this spot, good thing we didn't draft earlier! I was going running back with my first pick, and wanted a workhorse to anchor my fantasy team this year. With points for carries as well as yards, I wantede to make sure I got a RB that touches the ball--a lot. (Contributed by: mrkkti)
