Draft Analysis
Round 3, Pick 6
Positives One of the best receivers in the league Negatives Draws double-coverage regularly. Getting a little older (32), so there's always the risk that his production could slide. Draft Strategy I didn't like any of the RBs left in Round 3, so I went with a sure-thing WR, hoping to pick up some more RBs in the next couple rounds (Contributed by: Phyrre56)
Round 2, Pick 11
Positives After the performance of the Colts' offense last season, I expect Harrison to get more single coverage and see more zones. This means his receptions should come back somewhat as defenses acknowledge the fact that double coverage on Harrison just frees up the other options. I expect he's a lock for a top 5 WR with potential to be even better. Negatives There are a lot of weapons in Indy to spread the ball around too. His receptions have declined in each of the last 2 seasons. He's not big and strong like the new breed of NFL wideouts. He's not going to put up 143 receptions again. Draft Strategy A top WR to complement a top RB. I thought about RB (but I didn't think there was anything to lose by waiting a couple of picks). I also thought about a QB but the scoring system in this league really downplays QBs. (Contributed by: regas14)
Round 3, Pick 7
Positives Marvin is a premier wide receiver in the NFL with a premier QB in Manning targetting him. He gained over 1100 yds and scored 15 times last year. He's a stud receiver who will probably outgain last years yardage and equal if not surpass 15 TD's. His attitude has always been team which lends an air of confidence he won't be pulling any of the superstar garbage we have been seeing of late. Negatives Reggie Wayne had a great year in 2004 stealing a few of Marvin's TDs. Also, the odds are against Peyton having another 49 TD year so the "spreading around" effect may amount to less TD's for the Colts WRs to share. Draft Strategy Marvin Harrison at 3.07 is far more WR than I expected at that spot. Even TO went 3.06!!. (Contributed by: RatSlinger)
