This group has earned the reputation of good versus the pass, poor versus the run. If the Raiders offense can help at all to keep these guys from spending so much time on the field, a rise in fantasy production is very possible. The jewel of Oakland's defense is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who can shut down just about any team's primary receiver. But there have been some pleasant surprises among his teammates in the secondary, and the linebackers are considered a strong unit. If Derrick Burgess can get back to pressuring quarterbacks on a regular basis and the defensive linemen complimenting standout tackle Tommy Kelly can continue to develop, we could have a sleeper defense on our hands.

Positives The Raiders defense led by Rob Ryan (son of Buddy Ryan) was an exceptional unit last season. Their pass defense was among the league's elite and with playmakers such as Derrick Burgess and Nnamdi Asomugha, this team will produce fantasy numbers week in and week out. Negatives The Raiders had trouble containing the run last year which wears down a defense. They need to be more aggressive in stopping the run forcing the opposing QB to make plays into the strength of the defense. Draft Strategy Another defense that falls through the cracks.
