Average Draft Position (ADP) Tracker
Draft Analysis
Round 5, Pick 5
Positives
Brooks is a versatile QB playing for a pretty good offense. He is a threat to pick up rushing yards and he has one of the best receivers in the game (Joe Horn) to throw to.
Negatives
He can be mistake-prone and seems to have a few games where he totally breaks down and looks terrible. Also the Saints seem to have a bad habit of collapsing at the end of the regular season, when you need your players to be at their best for the fantasy playoffs.
Draft Strategy
This was my first mistake of the draft. I needed a quarterback, and for some reason I thought Trent Green was already taken. I should have looked more carefully at the draft board, Green would have been a better pick. Brooks may still come through for me - I like his running ability, and the Saints' late-season woes are not as much of a concern in the survivor format. If I even make it to the last few weeks of the season, I'm doing well. (Contributed by: pcfountain)

Round 6, Pick 5
Positives
Aaron Brooks has been a top producing QB for the last three years, tossing 77 TDs and averaging 228 passing yards per game during that time. Has some of the best receivers in the game, and a great rushing game to take the pressure off. He is a solid starting fantasy QB.
Negatives
He is a fine fantasy QB, but only above average in the NFL, and seems to lack the ability to put games away. But that would only really matter if he was in danger of losing his starting job, which is not the case. And the Saints have much room to improve. Finally, a great running game may effect his stats, although historically that has not been the case in New Orleans.
Draft Strategy
This is the guy I nearly passed on Shockey for, and here he is in the 6th round. I am fired up at this point. And the Horn hook up is a bonus. A S.O.D., if you ask me! (Contributed by: Pat_Smith)

Round 5, Pick 11
Positives
Brooks as thrown for at least 24 TDs in the past three years while his INTs have gone down in those same three years. He is also a scrambling QB that helps him get yardage and extra TDs. Taking him as the #7 QB is just about right and he should be able to finish in the top 7 easily. Brooks also hasn't had the best receiving core outside of Horn to throw to the past few years.
Negatives
Brooks does tend to disappear down the stretch and not be the most consistent QB. With Horn getting older, Stallworth not showing he can stay healthy and the rest of the WR group needing to step up it could be a long year if Horn misses any time.
Draft Strategy
This came down to a QB or RB for me. I don't like the Cle running situation or much about that team and there wasn't many other RBs that really tickled my fancy. I knew that Hemol would take at least RB on the swing with his next two picks but he should actually help my decision on which RB I will take next. There are so many guys down on Brooks it seems like, and I don't know why. He is young, still learning and growing as a QB and the sky is the limit for the guy. (Contributed by: Meatloaf)
