Season Projections
The 33-year-old journeyman passer will battle Steelers' 2013 fourth-round selection Landry Jones in a preseason derby with the backup gig behind Ben Roethlisberger going to the winner. Gradkowski missed all of 2015 due to a preseason finger injury, which required surgery, and a shoulder issue. Since the Pittsburgh native started suiting up for the Black and Gold in 2012, he surprisingly hasn't thrown a pass in a regular-season contest. By the way, Gradkowski, who has played in 13 career games, made his most recent start six years ago with the Oakland Raiders. Assuming Gradkowski wins the No. 2 job, the super-competitive triggerman won't have much to offer fantasy owners if he's forced to make a spot start or two. Gradkowski will operate as a game manager because he simply lacks the throwing ability (52.9 career completion percentage and 21 career touchdown passes) to move the Steelers offense consistently, even with help from a deep supporting cast that includes Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, Markus Wheaton and Ladarius Green. It would take a very favorable matchup to elevate Gradkowski to streaming-option status.
