Fantasy Analysis
8/27/13: With Hernandez gone, look for Vereen to be a major part ot he Patriots offense in 2013. Of course, he'll need to tighten up his ball security to avoid Belichick's doghouse. 6/1/13: The dual-threat Vereen is expected to fill the third-down/change-of-pace role that belonged to Danny Woodhead (Chargers) for the last three years. At 5-foot-10, 203 pounds, Vereen lacks home-run speed, but he is big enough and fast enough to make plays. During New England's divisional round playoff win over the Houston Texans last season, Vereen enjoyed a huge breakout game, amassing 124 total yards (83 receiving and 41 rushing) and three total touchdowns (two receiving, one rushing) on 12 total touches. The third-year pro has some intriguing upside in 2013. The Patriots' starting tailback, Stevan Ridley, is usually a non-factor as a receiver, so Vereen obviously will see regular third-down action and has a very good chance to duplicate Woodhead's 40-446-3 receiving line from 2012. Vereen probably will steal some carries from Ridley, too. Think about this: Woodhead finished as the 24th-most productive fantasy running back in PPR scoring formats in 2012, and he wasn't half as good a rusher as Vereen. If either injury-prone Aaron Hernandez or Rob Gronkowski (back surgery) misses starts, Vereen also could play more snaps in the passing game than usual. He is a sneaky depth pick in the later rounds.

Rushing: 347 Yards, 2 TD.
Receiving: 22 Receptions, 223 Yards, 2 TD.
