Fantasy Analysis
Week 1 Projections
Powell is just a Forte injury away from taking over as New York's starting running back. Powell came on strong at the end of last year becoming one of the Jets options in the passing game. While he looks to be in a timeshare with Forte for rushing duties, continue to monitor Forte's injury status prior to week 1 as if Forte continues to be limited upgrade Powell.
Rushing: 31 Yards, 0 TD.
Receiving: 3 Receptions, 25 Yards, 0 TD.

Season Projections
A day after signing free agent Matt Forte to a three-year, $12 million contract with $8 million guaranteed, the Jets re-signed Powell to a three-year, $11.25 million contract with $6 million guaranteed. That's an awful lot of money for a guy that many think will be riding the pine behind Forte. But we're not so sure that's going to be the case. Powell proved to be very effective down the stretch last season and will most likely play the same role this season. Forte had been a workhorse for the Bears since coming into the league in 2008 and the Jets will look to minimize the pounding he takes by occasionally moving him out the slot and reducing his workload with Powell and Khiry Robinson. Powell will provide a solid option during bye weeks and should you need an injury replacement. And if Forte were to go down, he'd be definitely be a player worth starting in most leagues.

Rushing: 500 Yards, 2 TD.
Receiving: 50 Receptions, 411 Yards, 2 TD.
