Peterson created quite the kerfuffle earlier this spring when he proclaimed himself the NFL's best cornerback, but it turns out Richard Sherman may just have someone else to be mad at. because Pete Prisco of CBS Sports agrees with Peterson. Of Peterson, who he ranked first among corners and eighth overall, Prisco wrote, 'He is a physical corner who plays a lot of man coverage. And he does it well.' Prisco goes on to say that one offensive coordinator said of Peterson: 'Peterson lines up on the top receiver all over the place. That gives him an edge over (Richard) Sherman. They're both really good.' Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Peterson may be too good. He's never cracked the top 12 fantasy cornerbacks, much less defensive backs. It's a fate that often befalls 'shutdown' corners. If opposing quarterbacks avoid them, fantasy owners have little choice but to follow suit.
