Fantasy Analysis
Week 8 Projections
THURSDAY UPDATE: According to media reports, Thomas (ankle) will be ACTIVE for Thursday Night Football. Operating in a sputtering Jacksonville Jaguars offense, Thomas (ankle) has either scored or amassed 60-plus receiving yards in three of his five games played. The Tennessee Titans defense ranks just 22nd in fantasy points allowed to the tight end position, and Thomas hit pay dirt in both of his matchups versus Tennessee last season. We won't promise a score from him this week, but the matchup looks okay on paper.
Receiving: 4 Receptions, 41 Yards, 0 TD.

Season Projections
If the Jaguars are reading this, please, keep Julius Thomas out of the preseason. Thomas was set to be a stud last year as the main option in the Jags' growing offense. Instead, he broke his hand on a 2-yard route in the preseason and ended up requiring surgery. You don't put your top players, the highest paid tight end in history for example, in harms way for a meaningless game. The preseason is for new players to get into shape and earn a role of some kind. Chemistry with the quarterback and his receivers can be accomplished in practice. Hopefully, Thomas will avoid injury and re-position himself as the center of the offense as he was supposed to be last season. This offense is going to be dynamic this year so be sure to leave with at least one component, and you could do a lot worse than perhaps the most athletic tight end in the league.
