During the last month, Cotchery hasn't amassed more than four catches or more than 60 receiving yards in a game. He also hasn't hit pay dirt this season. Despite a plus matchup against a Minnesota Vikings defense that ranked 23rd in fantasy points ceded to opposing wideouts during the last four weeks, Cotchery lacks fantasy appeal.
As a reserve in Pittsburgh last year, Cotchery amazingly averaged a touchdown for every 4.6 catches. The wily veteran takes his game to the receiver-starved Panthers where he will be ticketed with a starting role opposite rookie Kelvin Benjamin. Cotchery's 2013 stats are a prime example of why you don't just take someone's numbers and extrapolate them over more playing time. Do you really think that if Cotchery catches 69 passes this season that he'll score 15 touchdowns? Yeah, neither do we. The situation doesn't sound that exiting at first glance, and most likely won't be exciting at second glance, either. But there is an opportunity here for Cotchery to have sneaky value if he falls far enough in your draft.
