Fantasy Analysis
All the 2012 preseason talk about San Francisco using Gore in a fantasy-value killing committee backfield with Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James was just…talk. Gore handled the bulk of the rushing duties as usual. Hunter averaged only seven total touches per game before he suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon in late November, and James didn’t touch the ball until Week 14. Aside from a small drop in carries this past season, there was little difference between Gore’s 2011 and 2012 rushing stats. Listed at 5-foot-9, 217 pounds, Gore is a compact-but-powerful runner. Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, Gore has averaged 18 total touches and 87 total yards per game, and scored 17 total touchdowns. Unfortunately, the 49ers don’t seem interested in using the ninth-year pro heavily in the passing game, and Gore has racked up double-digit total touchdowns in just one season (2009). Although he turned 30 in May, Gore hasn’t shown any noticeable signs of decline and hasn’t missed a game in two straight years. In addition, San Francisco has a very good run-blocking offensive line. He rates as a slightly risky fantasy RB2 with no upside. Gore should be the lead dog in the 49ers backfield at least one more season.

Rushing: 1100 Yards, 7 TD.
Receiving: 15 Receptions, 100 Yards, 0 TD.
