Fantasy Analysis

It's tough to gauge how many games Cassel will start in 2014. The 10th-year pro is expected to operate as Minnesota's "band-aid" starter until rookie Teddy Bridgewater is ready to take the helm. Last season Cassel started six contests (he played in nine altogether), averaging a respectable 239.8 passing yards, 1.5 touchdown passes and 1.2 interceptions per contest. He did a much better job of getting the wide receivers involved in the offense than Christian Ponder did, which is likely the reason why the team started Cassel during the closing weeks of the regular season. Last year new Minnesota offensive coordinator Norv Turner squeezed some solid play out of Brandon Weeden (Cowboys), Brian Hoyer (Browns) and Jason Campbell (Bengals) while operating the offense of the Cleveland Browns. Although Turner should help improve the 31-year-old Cassel's game, it's doubtful the mediocre-armed triggerman will be a difference-maker for your fantasy team. When Cassel is under center, he should play well enough to boost the value of his receiver corps, which includes Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson and Kyle Rudolph.

Passing: 2600 Yards, 16 TD, 14 INT.
Rushing: 150 Yards, 0 TD.
