Strength of schedule is calculated from the opponents projected fantasy points allowed for the QB position. The best rating is +16 which gives the player the advantage against the defense and indicates an easy opponent, the worst rating is -16 which gives the defense the advantage and indicates a tough opponent.
The Texans should have success pounding the football against an Oakland Raiders defense that surrendered more than 200 rushing yards to the New York Jets last week, so Fitzpatrick will operate as a game-manager once again. He is a decent play only as a low-end No. 2 fantasy passer.
Suiting up for his third team in three years, the "Bearded Bomber" is expected to serve as a "band-aid option" for the Texans. Although Fitzpatrick is regarded as one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL, his streakiness can drive fantasy owners up the wall. Last season, the average-armed Fitzpatrick made nine injury fill-in starts (played in 11 games overall) for the Tennessee Titans, averaging a bland 231.33 passing yards, 1.2 touchdown passes and 1.33 picks per contest. New Houston head coach/offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, who served as an offensive assistant for New England Patriots' from 2007 through 2011, was expected to install a system that is very similar to the Patriots' complicated offense. The aging-but-still-capable Andre Johnson leads an overall unproven Texans receiver corps that includes DeAndre Hopkins, Garrett Graham and Ryan Griffin. It's hard to say how many games Fitzpatrick will start, but he likely will have some growing pains while learning O'Brien's system. Look for the Houston to lean heavily on Arian Foster early in the season. "Fitz Magic" likely will have some value only in deeper redraft leagues.
