Fantasy Analysis
Even though Carolina promoted Stewart to the starting lineup about seven weeks into the 2012 season, he still amassed the worst numbers of his career. Nagging ankle injuries forced Stewart to miss seven games and slowed him in a few others. The Panthers’ running attack struggled part of the season because of offensive line injuries and erratic play-calling, which also contributed to Stewart’s anemic production. Carolina’s ranking as the 10th-best rushing offense is misleading, because Cam Newton topped the team in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. At 5-foot-10, 235 pounds, Stewart, who returns as the starter, is the most talented and complete back on the Panthers’ roster. The sixth-year pro is a compact, powerful runner with good speed and solid receiving skills. However, Stewart has very limited bounce-back potential, because Carolina’s backfield is super-crowded nowadays. Newton has topped the team in rushing scores two years in a row. Backup DeAngelo Williams is expected to return, and third-stringer Mike Tolbert is now in the mix as a passing-situation/goal-line specialist, too. In addition, Stewart underwent surgery on both ankles during the offseason, and he may not be ready for training camp. If healthy, Stewart is the top dog but offers only low-end RB3 value at best.

Rushing: 800 Yards, 4 TD.
Receiving: 50 Receptions, 450 Yards, 1 TD.
