Fantasy Analysis
Although Calvin Johnson set a new NFL single-season record for receiving yardage in 2012, the golden-armed Stafford still took a step backwards production-wise following his impressive 2011 campaign. Stafford’s passing yardage dipped by just 71 yards, but his scoring strikes plummeted from 41 to 20. What happened? Stafford had to deal with injuries to his receiver corps. Nate Burleson (broken leg), Ryan Broyles (torn ACL) and Brandon Pettigrew (high-ankle sprain) missed a combined 18 games. Despite the low touchdown pass total, Stafford still finished as the 11th-best fantasy quarterback. Everyone will return healthy, and talented pass-catching back Reggie Bush is a huge upgrade to Detroit’s high-powered offense. Stafford has modest bounce-back potential. If 41 touchdown passes is his ceiling and 20 is his basement, Stafford’s scoring strike total should fall somewhere in between. By the way, after missing 19 regular-season games from 2009 through 2010, the 25-year-old Stafford is currently working on an ironman streak of 33 straight starts. And the Lions triggerman threw the ball a ton during that streak; Stafford topped the NFL with a whopping 1,390 pass attempts over the last two seasons.

Passing: 5000 Yards, 43 TD, 15 INT.
Rushing: 80 Yards, 0 TD.
