Strength of schedule is calculated from the opponents projected fantasy points allowed for the RB position. The best rating is +16 which gives the player the advantage against the defense and indicates an easy opponent, the worst rating is -16 which gives the defense the advantage and indicates a tough opponent.
On the season, Gerhart has averaged just 2.6 yards per carry, and he has failed to rush for more than 45 yards in a single game. Those disappointing statistics are why Gerhart is now operating in a committee backfield with Denard Robinson. Consider Gerhart, who is expected to handle the goal-line touches, a low-upside flex option against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has given up 101 rushing yards per game and three rushing touchdowns on the season to enemy running backs.
After spending his first four seasons as the primary backup to Adrian Peterson Gerhart will finally have his chance to shine. Unfortunately, it will be as the primary running back on a team that finished 31st in rushing last season. Despite being 27 years old and entering his fifth season, Gerhart will have plenty of tread left on his tires after averaging only 281 snaps per season thus far in his career. Gerhart is a punishing runner that can push the pile, while also possessing just enough slipperiness to hit creases at the point of attack that belies a man his size. He should also be a three-down player, as his pass blocking is above average and he catches the ball well out of the backfield. Gerhart's a solid RB2 due mainly to the number of touches he should see this season. The Jaguars however, only managed to post seven rushing touchdowns last season and that is a concern.
