2011 Wild Card Weekend: Fantasy Sharks Pro Bowl IV

Happy New Year! Welcome to the postseason edition of the Brew Crew Corner. Over the next few weeks through the NFL Super Bowl I will be analyzing the 2010 fantasy season. One thing for sure, this was the year of the undrafted player. Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis, Brandon Lloyd and Stevie Johnson were the top waiver pickups this season. Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy were the best drafted running backs in the middle rounds, and tight end scoring dropped off tremendously by an average of 38.2 points for the Top 5 players at that position. Antonio Gates, who finished second this season in points for tight ends, would have ranked eighth in 2009.

Arian Foster – 31 carries, 180 yards, 2 TD; 2 receptions, 10 yards. Foster ended the season as he began, by posting the best rushing stats of the week. He owns MVP honors and top running back.

Ryan Mathews – 26 carries, 120 yards, 3 TD; 3 receptions, 19 yards. Mathews has been a disappointment for owners this year. Hopefully for 2011, this is the Mathews we will see.

Michael Bush – 25 carries, 137 yards, 1 TD; 4 receptions, 34 yards. Bush stepped in for an injured Darren McFadden and showed why the handcuff strategy is still needed. Bush will be a free agent next season so his value will depend on where he plays.

2010 Fantasy Football MVP and 2010 Top Running Back

Arian Foster, Houston Texans: 443 fantasy points this season/27.7 fantasy points per week. Foster entered the season as one of the best sleeper candidates and ran away with the league. Foster is one of the best value draft picks this season and those owners who drafted him reaped the benefits.

2010 Fantasy Football Top Quarterback

Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles: 310 fantasy points this season/19.4 fantasy points per week

2010 Fantasy Football Top Wide Receiver

Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons: 310 fantasy points this season/19.4 fantasy points per week.

2010 Fantasy Football Top Tight End

Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys: 242 fantasy points this season/15.1 fantasy points per week.

2010 Fantasy Football Top Kicker

Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders: 183 fantasy points this season/11.4 fantasy points per week.

2010 Fantasy Football Top Defense

Pittsburgh Steelers: 230 fantasy points this season/14.4 fantasy points per week.
