This week’s lines are from usatoday.com (as of Wednesday night).
ATS – Against the Spread; SU – Straight Up; O/U – Over/Under
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars (+3)
The Colts are on a three-game winning streak after defeating the Miami Dolphins last week, 23-20. Quarterback Andrew Luck has been as good as advertised. He threw for a rookie record 433 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win, and while the offense has performed well under Luck, the defense still has some work to do. The team ranks 11th against the pass in the league (221.5 points per game) and are giving up 130.8 yards rushing, 25th in the NFL.
Jacksonville comes in with a five-game losing streak, with an 0-4 record at home. Last week, they lost to the Detroit Lions, 31-14. The Jaguars rank dead last in offense, averaging only 14.6 points per game. On the defensive side, they are near the bottom also, allowing over 27 points per game.
The two teams met back in Week 3 with the Jaguars winning, 22-17, when running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown.
With Luck improving with each NFL game, coupled with the Jaguars losing Jones-Drew due to injury, something tells me we won’t be seeing the same result this time around.
Gimme the Colts minus the points.
Please make sure to check back Friday for my four-star picks and my take on the rest of the NFL schedule.
