Coming into the final week of the regular season, Vinnie has a few tips regarding games that probably won’t garner as much publicity as those with numerous playoff implications. Enjoy!
Washington @ San Francisco (-3): A lot of people may not have noticed, but San Fran has been a .500 team since Mike Singletary took over as head coach (4-4). An argument can be made, a lot of weeks, about this team not measuring up in comparison to the opposing team’s level of talent, but what’s never in question is whether they play as hard. The 49ers are going to give all they have, defending their home field on Sunday against a fool’s gold Washington team that has only won two games since its bye.
Gimme the 49ers minus the points.
Jacksonville @ Baltimore (-12.5): You mean you think the Ravens are going to basically win by two touchdowns, Vinnie? Really? Look, here’s where I’m coming from on this: Baltimore is playing football like an elite team at this point but probably needs to win this weekend in order to earn the sixth seed in the AFC playoffs, meanwhile the Jags have been disappointing all year and have struggled mightily against teams featuring a disruptive defensive front seven.
Gimme the Ravens minus the points.
Kansas City @ Cincinnati (-3): Call me crazy but despite similar win/loss records, I don’t think this year’s Bengals are on par with the Chiefs. You’ve got Tyler Thigpen making a strong case for the quarterback job in ’09, a handful of other offensive players outperforming what a lot of NFL watchers think of them, and Herm Edwards coaching like these are his final weeks in K.C. (which they might be.) I realize both teams are below average, here, but what I don’t realize is why Cincy is favored.
Gimme the Chiefs plus the points.
