Audibles Examines Fan Duel Values for Week 13

If you have yet to give FanDuel a try, you really ought to. It’s a great way to forget that you made some mistakes in your draft. Perhaps you didn’t do enough research?

Maybe you thought watching football was enough information to make draft picks. It clearly isn’t. FanDuel gives you the opportunity to draft a new team every single week. You can compete in the 50/50 leagues and if you place in the top 50 percent then you can win money.

I am sure that it sounds easy enough. You can be in the top 50% right? The only thing that is different is that you have a salary cap. In an ideal world you could stack a team with
Peyton Manning

,
Calvin Johnson

, and Jamaal Charles.

The salary cap will make it difficult to field such a team. In order to get those marquee players on your team, you need to find some on the cheap that are a nice value. This week I identify some values that will help you put those
marquee players on your team. Let’s get after it…

Rishard Matthews

WR Miami Dolphins $4,500

Matthews found himself taking over the WR2 spot that was vacated when former Ram
Brandon Gibson

went down. Gibson was really starting to make some noise. The 27 targets in the last three weeks are an indicator of the
bulk of teams trying to limit

Mike Wallace

. This week should be a solid outing for Matthews versus a very suspect New York Jets secondary. They truly don’t have the personnel to stay with Miami’s receivers. I expect the Jets will have no issue stopping the lackluster running game of the Dolphins.

Daniel Thomas

is done for the year leaving
Lamar Miller

and rookie
Mike Gillislee

. I put zero faith in the Dolphins to do anything on the ground. This is a sneaky play at $4,500 because if the Dolphins have to throw 35 times, I expect as many as seven balls to go in the direction of Matthews. The averages say that number is higher, but due to the small sample size I’m going with seven. That’s a huge number for such a low cost.

E.J. Manuel

QB Buffalo Bills $6,300

Manuel was showing that he was becoming acclimated to the pro game faster than a normal rookie. He has an ideal matchup this week versus the Falcons, who rank in the bottom three against fantasy QBs.

Include the services of
Marquise Goodwin

, who is capable of getting behind any cornerback on any team in the league. This kid can really fly. Look for the deep ball from Manuel at some point in the contest. It usually results in six points.

I expect Buffalo to be all over Atlanta in what may be the highest scoring game of the week. Beware that Buffalo comes off the bye week rested and they will surprise. I expect that Manuel will be closer to full health than most expect. He is an exciting player to watch.

Jordan Cameron

TE Cleveland Browns $5,700

I know what everyone is thinking here, but I assure you that Cameron is going to have himself a nice afternoon. The Jaguars rank near last against the tight end. Weeden returning to the lineup means that they will again sling it upwards of 40 times. I like Cameron to go 6/72/1. I assure you the drought is over. This week you will see.

Robbie Gould

K Chicago Bears $5,000

Minnesota ranks in the bottom four teams in points given up to kickers. I like the Bears to not only compete in this game but score points. I think at the meager price point that Gould is a good play. Gould has only missed one field goal on the season (19 of 20).

Cleveland Browns Defense $5,800

Jacksonville has turned the ball an average of twice per game. I like this play with
Joe Haden

in mind. I believe he is the premier cornerback in the game.

I think there will be turnovers a plenty in this one. The pass rush has not produced any sacks in the last two weeks. This week I think they find a way to disrupt the Jacksonville passing game and get back on track.

Hopefully, these bargain basement plays will help you acquire the marquee names that you really want. If you can start one on the cheap then you will have additional funds to spare. The total of these plays is only a mere $27,200 against a $60k salary cap. That would be an average of $8,200 over four skilled positions (WR, WR, RB, RB) which could include the likes of
Adrian Peterson

$9,100,
Andre Brown

$7,100,
Larry Fitzgerald

$7,100, and
A.J. Green

$8,800.

You would be well under the cap. The next question is how competitive would that lineup be? We will answer that question next week at the end of the article. Give FanDuel a try and spot some values of your own.
