An NFL Red Zone addict and all-around data nerd, I've been obsessed with the NFL and stats ever since I started playing the virtual pigskin game in 2005.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Detroit Lions

Helmet_Detroit_Lions_1

A beneficiary of the Lions perpetual bottom-5 rushing offense, Stafford also ensures Stafford a spot be among the NFL leaders in pass attempts each year. Still just 30-years old, Stafford is an ideal fantasy selection for owners who like to wait on quarterbacks in their drafts.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks Helmet

With Jimmy Graham's contract with Seattle having expired, the team appears destined to move on from the big tight end, as Graham's market price will reportedly cost more than the team is willing to pay. Even though some of Graham's explosiveness has been sapped at age 31, he remains an elite red zone weapon, and should maintain a sizable fantasy presence with whichever team lands him in free agency.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Arizona Cardinals

WR_Larry_Fitzgerald_ARI_1

Currently, all signs point to Larry Fitzgerald coming back and play for a 15th season, and it's likely the direction Arizona takes with respect to their quarterback position will determine how quickly a decision is made. Assuming Fitz does play in 2018, there's no reason to think he can't succeed, with more value coming in PPR leagues.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Green Bay Packers

Helmet_Green_Bay_Packers_1

2017 most likely represented a changing of the guard at receiver for Green Bay, as Davante Adams appeared to take over the number one role from stalwart Jordy Nelson. Even with quarterback Aaron Rodgers sidelined for the majority of the season Adams still managed to remain productive with 10 receiving touchdowns, giving him a total of 22 over the past two seasons.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Washington Redskins

In an alternate universe, Jordan Reed is right up there with Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce as an elite option at the tight end position. However, it was another year and the same story for Reed, who seems to be made out of porcelain, and has now missed a total of 16 games over the past two seasons due to various injuries.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Cincinnati Bengals

QB_Andy_Dalton_CIN_1

Andy Dalton was able to throw at least 25 touchdown passes for the fourth time in seven seasons, though his 207.5 passing yards per game was the lowest mark of his career. While Dalton may never again reach the lofty totals he put up in 2013 he has settled in nicely as a matchup-based streamer.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Miami Dolphins

QB_Ryan_Tannehill_MIA_

Tannehill projects as the Dolphins starting quarterback for 2018, though the team has reportedly not ruled out using their 11th overall pick in April's draft on a signal caller depending on who is still available. Meanwhile, with Cutler's one-year contract fulfilled, the former 2006 first-round pick figures to head back into retirement after reportedly indicating he's not interested in becoming a backup.

With Jon Gruden finally stepping away from the ESPN booth and back into coaching, whether or not he can get Derek Carr back on his career trajectory of becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL will be a storyline to monitor in 2018.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Chicago Bears

Despite eclipsing 200 passing yards in just three of his 12 starts, Mitch Trubisky showed promise as someone the Bears could build an offense around. With John Fox out as the Bears head coach, having been replaced by former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy (who coaxed career numbers out of Alex Smith this past season) there's hope Trubisky can take a significant step forward in 2018.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: New York Jets

QB Josh McCown NYJ

Josh McCown turned out to be a pleasant surprise for both the Jets and fantasy managers alike, as the 38-year old journeyman was a Top-15 fantasy scorer at his position in 8-of-13 games played before succumbing to a hand injury in Week 14.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Denver Broncos

With quarterback being essentially the only thing holding the Broncos back from being a legitimate playoff contender, they are expected to either make a run in free agency (there's talk of heavy interest in Kirk Cousins) or take another shot in the first round of April's draft.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: Houston Texans

DeAndre Hopkins turned out to be one of the best value picks in fantasy football considering he was typically being drafted after guys like Amari Cooper and Doug Baldwin. The most impressive thing about Hopkins' 2017 season was what he did after Deshaun Watson was lost for the season

Frank Gore just would not go away, as he was able to start all 16 games for the Colts at the age of 34, en route to passing Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson on the all-time rushing list (Gore now sits in fifth place) becoming just the fifth player in NFL history to compile at least 14,000 career rushing yards.

2017 FANTASY POSTMORTEM: New York Giants

Evan Engram's final numbers reflect the best statistical performance from a rookie tight end since Rob Gronkowski went 42-546-10 back in 2010. After Week 5, Engram essentially was the Giants' receiving game with both Odell Beckham and Brandon Marshall shut down for the season and Sterling Shepard being shuffled in and out of the lineup with his own injury issues.
